In the Mood for Hearts
Hi Friends,
I hope you’re having a good week. Last night I had my first class of the new year, but it was moved to zoom by a freezing rain storm! I’m hoping this isn’t a sign of things to come. My first year teaching in grad school was 2015, when we got a blizzard bad enough to cancel school almost every week. The snow might be pretty, but it wreaks havoc on a lesson plan!
Have you found any good tricks to stay mentally cozy when the cold weather keeps you inside? Even though Valentines Day is still a month away, I’m feeling so drawn to traditional valentines decorations right now– pinks, reds, shiny hearts, flowers, and sparkly jewelry. I’m especially loving the hearts on sweaters I’m seeing everywhere. Here’s a little mood board with a few of my favorites.
What do you think? Would you wear your heart on your sweater sleeve?
This Week I’m:
Bragging about: my little brother clinching the world record for speed running Mario 64, 120 stars. Check it out here if you have nerves of steel https://www.speedrun.com/sm64/runs/y4k0r4km
Reading: The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell
Watching: American Fiction. This movie was so good! I expected it to be funny based on the trailers, but I was surprised by how heartfelt and just … enjoyable to watch it was. If you’re at all interested, go see it.
Listening to: Murder on the Dancefloor by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Saltburn doesn’t look like my kind of movie, but I appreciate it bringing attention to this 2001 song, which was apparently a hit everywhere except the US when it first came out.
Last Chance to sign up for January classes!
My Tuesday and Thursday classes are already locked down, but there’s still time to sign up for Friday and Monday classes if you hurry.
