Hi Friends,
How’s your week going?
I’m still in awe from seeing the total eclipse on Monday. The totality itself was gorgeous, but I was also blown away by how even a tiny sliver of sun was enough to make it feel like daytime. The brightness of the sun is really incredible.
To see the totality, Greg and I drove up to Montreal and had a 3-day mini break. It took us 4.5 hours to drive up and 11 hours to get home!! I don’t think I’ve ever been in traffic that bad for that long. Still, it was cool to know that almost every car on the road was somebody who’d taken a day out of their regular schedule to see something fleeting and wondrous.
Now we’re back to regularly scheduled programming.
When I got home Monday night I had a package waiting for me: my five senses journal! Apparently I ordered this just in time, because they’re all sold out on the website, now.
The journal is a companion to Gretchen Rubin’s Life in Five Senses which I’ll be leading a class on starting Wednesday, April 24th. The journal is beautiful and well made, but don’t feel bad if you missed out, the majority of the content is in the original book.
Flipping through the different layouts for reports has me excited to plan experiments for class. Reading the book as a group, we can try out some of the experiments that would be too much work to do alone. One I’m especially looking forward to is a “flavor tripping” party with the miracle fruit that makes sour foods taste sweet.
Have you tried the miracle berry? What did you think of it?
This Week I’m:
Reading: The Five Senses Journal
Listening to: Vampire Weekend’s new album
Watching: my 2024 rose theme was in full bloom this weekend. I flipped on the tv at our hotel, the Honeyrose Montreal, to see this classic rose episode of Batman the Animated Series. I had to watch:
Take a Class with Me:
As I mentioned above, I’m teaching “Life in Five Senses: Beyond the Book” on Wednesday evenings beginning April 24th at Arlington High School (in Arlington, MA). You can find out more and register now at: https://arlington.ce.eleyo.com/course/4946/spring-2024/life-in-five-senses-beyond-the-book
I’m so excited about this class. Learning about your senses isn’t just fun, it can also help you manage your energy level, deal with stress, make connections, and be more in touch with your body. For a few examples, watch this video from Gretchen Rubin about why the five sense are the swiss army knife for happiness:
Thanks for reading!
